Judging the WNYRSEF Projects
Judges for the projects are from many walks of life. Elementary and Middle school teachers usually judge grades 5-6. A mixture of teachers, scientists and engineers judge grades 7-12. Based on the nature of the project, the Judging Rubric that will be used is either a science project rubric or an engineering project rubric. Students can also access Presentation Tips to share about their projects.
If you, or someone you know, would like to judge for the WNY Regional Science and Engineering Fair, please complete the online Judges’ Registration form. The Judging 101 document provides judges with the logistics and procedures to ensure clear expectations of their work at the Fair. There are several Award Levels (Grand/Advancement, Monetary, and Special Awards) available for student projects that qualify and meet the criteria for selection.
For questions, contact the Judges’ Chairperson, John-Paul Martin, at firstname.lastname@example.org .
Safety Considerations for All Participants
It is the responsibility of the students and their sponsoring adults to carefully monitor all projects for safety and proper safety practices. Download and print the Safety Checklist and Restrictions.
Safety inspectors are individuals from a variety of safety-related industries. Using the Safety Checklist, projects are inspected prior to judging. If you are in the field of safety and would like to inspector projects for the WNY Regional Science and Engineering Fair, please complete the online Safety Inspectors’ Registration Form.
If you have any questions or need clarification about the Safety Checklist or the Safety Restrictions, contact the Safety Chairperson, Carol Schmeidler, at email@example.com.
