Western New York Science Congress, Inc.  is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education in grades 5 -12 encompassing five WNY counties (Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, and Wyoming). Our mission is to sponsor an annual STEM competition in which students demonstrate the scientific method following safety principles and practices.


  • Provide students and teachers of Western New York schools the opportunity to engage in and communicate scientific projects and activities within the community
  • Encourage students in the development of interests and careers in science, technology, engineering, and math
  • Encourage career exploration in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math in college, industry, and life.

Each year, the Board of Directors of WNY Science Congress, Inc. identify a renowned scientist from one of the 8 counties of Western New York.  His or her accomplishments are of importance not only to our area, but possibly recognized nationally or globally. Helen Domske was our Distinguished Scientist in 2016.

WNY Regional Science and Engineering Fair Affiliates with Intel ISEF

The 75th annual WNY Regional Science and Engineering Fair will be held on April 1 for students in grades 5-12 at Cheektowaga Central High School. This milestone year will have new opportunities for student scholarships and awards made possible by the organization’s recent affiliation with the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), the world’s largest international pre-college science competition for students in grades 9-12.
Student opportunities and funding for four new awards will be provided by Terra Science and Education Foundation and Ying TRSEF.
Awards provided include up to $500 capacity building grants for teachers and schools and funding for a select number of students’ to compete among 1,700 students from 75 countries attending Intel ISEF 2017.
